Part of the RTH mission is to teach everyone how to move away from diets and restriction, and into a more sustainable, kind, and enjoyable healthy lifestyle.
The main problem with fad diets
Extreme dieting and the restriction that comes with it can throw your metabolism off balance, wreak havoc with your blood sugar and energy levels, disturb hormone balance, and even take a toll on your emotional wellbeing.
The dangers of food deprivation aren’t just in the denial of a slice of cake or a serving of chips. It can lead to binge eating episodes followed by self-imposed food punishment.
This never-ending cycle can have far-reaching consequences for our relationship with food.
How to ditch the cycle of restrictive eating
One of our clients came to us thinking that dieting “was eating salad every meal and skipping meals when I thought I’d eaten too much throughout the day.”
Through working together 1-on-1 we ditched the diet cycle and she enjoyed all her favourite foods whilst achieving her health goals.
The secret? She learnt through RTH how to eat them mindfully, savour the moment, and then continue on without any guilt.
…and this is what will help set you free!
After all, the body can handle anything in moderation.
They said: “I can now say that I will never return to this diet cycle when I know that I can eat delicious meals like tacos and pasta and still be healthy/calorie conscious!”
My mindset with food has completely changed, going from thinking that all foods are sweet foods or high calorie foods which are “bad” but I am now aware that with self control you can eat all foods in moderation and that if you rid yourself of these foods there is more chance that you’ll binge more when you do allow yourself to eat them.”
Alternatives to restrictive eating
Eating with balance is the only thing that works long term.
Balance isn’t just a passing fad; it’s the cornerstone of health and wellbeing.
It’s by championing balance over restriction we liberate ourselves and cultivate an empowering relationship with food.
It is possible to stop labelling foods as ‘off-limits’ and instead enjoy them guilt-free; it only takes patience and persistence.
The RTH approach is centred on rebuilding the important relationship between us and food, reducing the need to restrict or resort to fad diets, and eliminating the diet mentality.
By avoiding restrictive diets and focusing on a healthy balanced diet – with ALL the foods, we serve our bodies and minds.
Our client said: “The arrange of meals that are offered make me aware of healthy options when cooking and also show me that you do not have to eat salad every meal to be dieting.
I am no longer on a diet. Rachel has taught me a healthier lifestyle that I will continue to stick to beyond the program.”
