It can be common to have an all or nothing approach to a healthy lifestyle – where you must adhere strictly to a set of “perfect” eating rules, no exceptions allowed! OR you push your body to the brink with intense workouts every single day.
It’s great to be motivated to achieve your health goals, but being restrictive with your diet where you cut out all your favourite foods and exercise intensely every day isn’t the most sustainable.
This way, you’re more likely to burn out from exercise and start a binge-restrict cycle, which hurts your relationship with food.
Enjoying meals out and taking rest days can and SHOULD be apart of a healthy lifestyle.
After all, a healthy lifestyle is a lifestyle you can sustain and is enjoyable!
Keep reading to find out how you can strike the perfect balance and truly live that balanced, healthy, and fun lifestyle that you deserve!
Rest days are just as productive as your exercise days
Taking rest days are super important, because it gives your body time to rest and recover. You might feel like you’re not doing much, but your body is actually working hard to repair muscle and get more energy so you can do even better in your next workout.
Rest days are important to prevent injury and improve your performance as you will be less likely to burn out. You can even use these days to do other activities you enjoy such as reading.
Allow flexibility to eat out and enjoy your favourite foods
Our plans can give you this flexibility by leaving a meal free in the week for you to eat out, and include your favourite foods in the plan. When you’re able to do this, you’re less likely to feel like you’re going off track in your plan because it’s sustainable rather than an all or nothing approach.
When you feel restricted in your eating, you’re more likely to go off track and feel demotivated. Enjoying meals out and your favourite foods can and should be a part of a healthy lifestyle. Because this is more sustainable, you’re more likely to stay on track and achieve your health goals.
So, forgive yourself if you think you had a ‘bad’ day.
My plans can give you this flexibility – whether it’s eating nutritious foods for five out of six meals during the day or sticking to healthy eating during the weekdays and being more flexible on weekends.
This way, you’re less likely to feel like you’re going off track because it’s sustainable rather than an all-or-nothing approach.
